We’re Cyber Essentials Certified!
We’re delighted to announce that we were recently awarded Cyber Essentials Certification. Not only is this fantastic news for SEO it Right Ltd on a personal level, but it will also greatly benefit our clients, for reasons we will explain below. On that note, in this blog, we will discuss what Cyber Essentials is and what the key perks of certification are.
What is a Cyber Essentials Certification?
Created in 2014, Cyber Essentials is a government-run scheme that brings many benefits to an organisation. Most notably, protection against 80% of unwanted cyber-attacks. To receive certification, an organisation must meet a wide range of security requirements and complete a self-assessment questionnaire, which is later scrutinised by a cybersecurity consultant.
The Benefits of Cyber Essentials Certification
In today’s digital age, cybersecurity is incredibly important for any business. Last year, The Cyber Security Breaches Survey found that 32% of businesses and 22% of charities had been on the receiving end of cyber-attacks in the 12 months leading up to the survey.
Cyber-attacks can impact all types of organisations, from schools to conglomerates, at any given time and this can result in a huge data leak or a serious financial loss in some cases. Therefore, when it comes to cybersecurity and data protection, it is important to take precautionary steps for both your own and your client’s safety.
Typically, cyber-attacks are orchestrated by one person in an attempt to breach an organisation’s information system via 5 methods of access. In the self-assessment questionnaire, 5 controls are put in place to prevent these methods of access and subsequently guard the organisation’s internet connection, devices and data. These controls are firewalls, secure configuration, control user access, anti-malware and phishing.
